Barcelona magnificent star Lionel Messi celebrated the birth of his third child the only way he knows how, bagging two beautiful goals against Chelsea to reach his century of Champions League goals. Reaching the milestone in 123 games, 14 games less than what it took his arch-rival, Cristiano Ronaldo.
Messi turned out to be just the second player to score 100 Champions League goals with a brace in Champions League round 16-second leg tie against Chelsea at Camp Nou on Wednesday.
100 – Lionel Messi has now scored 100 Champions League goals in just 123 appearances, 14 games fewer than it took Cristiano Ronaldo (137) to reach this milestone. Extraordinary. pic.twitter.com/CfbtoVKb7y

Starting the clash with 98 goals in the competition but the Argentine star scored his 99th goal in Europe’s elite competition in the third minute, rifling through the legs of goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois from a tight edge.
The strike, which came following 128 seconds of the game, was the quickest Messi has ever scored for either Barcelona or Argentina. Also, Messi brought up three figures in the Champions League in the wake of being teed up by Luis Suarez, driving another awesome strike between Courtois’ legs.
Messi and Ronaldo are currently the only European players with 100 Champions League goals, but the Barca star dealt with the achievement in 123 matches — 14 less than the 137 games Ronaldo needed to reach the milestone.
A more intensive look at the statistics shows Messi was determinedly more practical on his path to 100 goals, with the 30-year-old requiring 1,758 fewer minutes and 266 fewer shots than Los Blancos forward Ronaldo.
However, Lionel Messi is still lingering behind Cristiano Ronaldo, who is the only other player with no less than 100 Champions League goals. Who has hit 117 goals in the competition, and has registered 12 of those goals in this season’s Champions League.
