The transfer season is certainly a period that is very vital for clubs all across the world, and as much as the signing of players from one club to the other is very paramount for the male football clubs, the same also applies to the women football clubs.

As such, few clubs across Europe complete their business during the January transfer window, either to bring in their targeted players or let go of the players who are struggling with their current team at the moment and will be desperate for a change of scene in order to ignite their stalling careers.

The journey to Europe started in 2006 for Rita when she joined Finnish outfit FC United, she played with the Jacobstad from 2006 to 2009, and she was named Finnish women league ‘Naisten Liiga‘ highest goal scorer in 2009 with 22 goals to her name, a brilliant performance that got her the move to Kristianstads DFF.

Just like we know that switching clubs is synonymous with footballers, as such Chikwelu moved down to Umea IK in 2010 and she spent seven seasons with Umeå IK from 2010 to 2016, but left upon the club’s relegation and joined Kristianstads DFF on a two-year contract.

In 2017, Chikwelu left Umea IK for Kristianstads DFF, doing brilliantly well for Umea IK, but unfortunately, the team got relegated, Rita played over 64 matches for Kristianstads and scored 12 goals in total during her stint with the Swedish outfit.

Chikwelu joined Spanish Primera Iberdrola club Madrid CFF from Kristianstads for the remainder of the 2019-20 season, and since she joined she’s been fantastic for the Oscar Fernandez led side, she opened her account for Madrid against Bilbao scoring one goal, and against Espanyol she a bagged a brace for the Madrid ladies.

Kanu represented Nigeria at the 2014 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup and the 2014 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, she made her senior debut for Nigeria in 2019 in a friendly match against Canada which Nigeria loss 2-1, her career has been on a steady growth, from the cadet to the national team.

Uchenna Kanu began her club football career as a college player with an American side Southeastern Fire, with an impressive 55 appearances and scoring 115 goals for the college side, and in 2018 she began her senior career with Pensacola FC, and she has played a total of 12 games and scored 17 goals.

Her stint with Pensacola FC was a marriage that produced many goals for the American side, the brilliant stint got her the move to Sevilla in the January transfer window for the remainder of the season to become the first African player for the Nervion outfit.

For many who saw Nnadozie played at the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup will understand why the French outfit went for the young lady, her performance at the tournament was top notch and she went all the way to win the player of the match award for her outstanding contribution to the team.

Not much after the U-20 tournament she was also selected for the 2018 Africa Women Cup of Nations, where she stayed on the bench for all five matches, then at the 2019 Women WAFU Cup she was in goal for the Super Falcons and her spectacular performance got her the nod to be selected as one of the three goalkeepers to represent the Super Falcons of Nigeria at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France which was her debut tournament.

The young goalkeeper confidence kept growing stronger as she went all the way to help the Falconets win a gold medal at the All African Games in Morocco saving three penalties against Cameroon.

Nnadozie signed for Rivers Angels at the start of the 2016 season, and since her arrival at the club she has been instrumental for the Angels, she was part of Rivers 2019 NWPL triumph which was a testament to her brilliance, and certainly, her performance at the world cup and winning the league with the angels got her the move to Paris FC on an 18-month deal.
