Inter Milan have boasted some formidable strikers over the years and it appears that the Italian giants have another devastating partnership up top. Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez have been the go-to men this season for Inter as their fledgling partnership continues to grow.

Martinez and Lukaku have only been team-mates for a matter of months – when the latter arrived at the San Siro from Manchester United on August 8.

However, it’s crystal clear that they are close on-and-off the pitch with Lukaku taking to Instagram to show the duo wearing matching dog jumpers.

The duo have scored more than 8 goals each in the first 14 games of the Serie A season; A feat which Diego Milito and Samuel Eto’o couldn’t achieve for Inter.  This is the first time since the 2001/02 season that the Nerazzurri have had two strikers achieve these numbers.

The last time Inter have had an attacking partnership score 8+ goals each in the first 14 games was in the 2001/02 season, where Christian Vieri and Mohammed Kallon reached that number. The Nerazzurri ended that season in third place, two points behind eventual winners Juventus.

The Argentine (Martinez) who was acquired from Racing Club in Argentina where he bagged 22 goals in 48 appearances for the Argentine side three years ago only needed the pairing of the former Anderlecht, Chelsea, and United striker to become a rising star for the Italian giant.

Lautaro is one of the hottest strikers in Europe right now with interest coming from Manchester City and Barcelona for the 22-year-old. He has formed a deadly partnership with Romelu Lukaku this term, and Antonio Conte is desperate to keep him as he looks to turn the club back into title winners.

Meanwhile, Settling down in Italy was the easiest thing for the all-time Belgium goal scorer with his goals and that of Martinez changing the face of the Italian League for the first time in about seven years.

Romelu Lukaku alongside his companion from Argentina is the reason Inter Milan are giving Juventus a run for their money contrary to the one-horse race we have seen In the last four years.

His partnership with Lautaro Martinez on the field of play is less than 15 weeks old and it has taken Italy and Europe by storm, little wonder they combined to defeat Slavia Prague in the UEFA Champions League.

Lukaku who endured resentful latter days at Old Trafford under Ole Gunnar Solksjaer as he was frozen out of the team only to favour the English youngster Marcus Rashford.

Obviously, Manchester United still feels the void left by the 26year old Lukaku as Marcus Rashford cannot do half of what Bolingoli will do upfront. Little wonder he was United’s highest goal scorer in his two seasons at the Red side of Manchester.

As it stands, the hazardous partnership between this two talisman can only get better and productive as the season progresses under Antonio Conte who looks forward to winning Inter’s first major silverware since 2011.
