La Liga side, CD Leganes, have officially secure the services of Success Makanjuola, the Flying Eagles star who completed a transfer to the Madrid based club side from Water FC in Abuja.
Leganes unveiled the midfielder on Thursday. He has now linked up with compatriots, Kenneth Omeruo and Chidozie Awaziem at the Estadio Municipal de Butarque.
“I am a player who always believed that one day I would play in Europe and God made it possible,” said Makajuola, who has signed a three-year deal with the Spanish club. “It’s a new dawn in my career.”
Makajuola has featured recently for Nigeria at the U20 World Cup in Poland as well as the Africa Games in Morocco.
He said that put him on the shop window around the world.
“I just want to thank my coaches in the U20 team, who gave me the opportunity to wear the green-white-green jersey to be seen.
“Coaches Paul Aigbogun, Abdul Maikaba, Abubakar Bala, not forgetting coach Shuaibu and coach Hassan. They are all great people and have contributed in one way or another to where we are now. They advised me and taught me what is needed to be a professional player.”
The left-footed winger was also full of encomiums for his foster father who he attributed his breakthrough to after God.
“My list of people who I am grateful to, will not be complete without my foster father Makanjuola Nuruni, who is also my agent and mentor,” he credited
“He has been a source of tremendous inspiration to me. I really don’t know how far I would have gone without him.”
Leganes are currently bottom of the table with two points from eight matches and are the only team in the Spanish Primera division without a win this season.
Leganes’ game against Getafe at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez Stadium on Saturday (today) will come too early for the Nigerian but he could make his debut in the home game against newly-promoted Mallorca next week.
