The Nigeria Women’s football league recently has been embroiled in various off field incidents and crises which has led to the delay of the start of the 2019 season.
However, after signing a deal with the Spanish La Liga, the league kicked off on July 17 with 16 teams across four groups in an abridged format with a Super 4 to follow after the end of regular season.
The champions of the 2019 season will travel to Spain as part of its recent partnership with La Liga for an international tournament, which will be held on a yearly basis.
Bayelsa Queens are the current Champions of the league after beating Nasarawa Amazons in the Super 4, the latter later won the Aiteo Cup trophy last week after beating the defending Champions Rivers Angels on penalties.
Here are all the teams playing in the NWFL this season, Jokodolu Babes however sold their spot after gaining promotion to Kaduna babes.
