Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr has given assurance to Nigerian football fans concerning the problem facing the goalkeeping department that has plagued the national team, saying that’s now a thing of the past.
With Francis Uzoho now playing regularly and Fortuna Dusseldorf II goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye now in the Eagles’ squad, the German tactician believes the team’s goalkeeping issue is solved.
In an interview on NFF twitter handle, Rohr said: “Goalkeeper Uzoho is much better now since he started playing regularly in his club, and so the goalkeeper positions we had problems in, we now have the answer.”
The former Bordeaux manager went on to say that the Super Eagles will be playing friendlies with African teams during the next round of international break to prepare for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers which are scheduled for November.
When asked on who the Eagles will likely play in October, Rohr said: “It will definitely be with African teams since the qualifiers are against African sides.”
“First, we’ll play Benin Republic at home, then we move to Lesotho. This is so we can get used to African football.
“In the Ukraine game, the players did very well, now we have to go face African sides, or we could probably play in Europe against other African teams as they do, Rohr concluded.
