Who are PSG’s highest-paid players (yearly) even after the arrivals of Gianluigi Donnarumma, Sergio Ramos, Giorgio Wijnaldum, Achraf Hakimi, and Lionel Messi?
No doubt, the arrival of Lionel Messi in PSG will upheave the salary sheet of the French club who longer before now, has been the highest paying football club in the world.
And with the kind of transfers the Les Parisians have made this summer, having one of the most expensive football squad, it’s only logical to envisage that the club should vie for every major silverware, most importantly the UEFA Champions League – as there’s no excuse parading an expensive squad and yet again, flatter to deceive.
The club’s total wage bill per year currently stands at £202,254,468 (€235,365,934.88) while the wage bill for each week is £3,889,509 (€4,526,094.10) currently.
Here are PSG‘s Highest-Paid Players As At 2021
- Mauro Icardi and Achraf Hakimi – €10m (£8.6m)
It’s not a coincidence that these two are formerly Inter Milan employees given their remarkable contributions to the Inter Milan team prior to their arrivals at PSG.
Icardi, 28, used to be the go-to man for goals at Inter Milan before switching to Paris in 2019. Icardi joined the French club on a one-season loan deal with a €70 million option to buy which was triggered by PSG in 2020 after the exit of the club’s legend and prolific goalscorer, Edinson Cavani to Manchester United.
Hakimi, on the other hand, metamorphosed into a modern-day right full-back who is quick, dynamic, and powerful with the ability to interpret the game tactically and technically, as well as capable of playing long accurate passes from the defense.
Having had a loan stint at Borussia Dortmund for two years which Inter Milan eventually came to rescue and priced him away from Real Madrid, he was quite productive for Inter Milan in their title-winning season under Antonio Conte.
He was snapped up by PSG after an illustrious one season at the San Siro for £51.3m. For a player in the mold of Hakimi, it’s only sensible to have him earn much because his club will definitely have value for the amount splurged on him.

- Sergio Ramos and Gianluigi Donnarumma – €12m (£10.3m)

Ramos’ journey of sixteen years with Real Madrid eventually came to an end at the end of last season in what was a colorful career. The Spanish defender won all that was there to win both in club football and on the international scene.
His transfer to Paris Saint-Germain even though it was a free agent, it’s more of a bargain for PSG because, in Ramos, there’s experience, leadership quality coupled with other on-field aesthetics.
The summation of his weekly wages in Paris currently stands at £11.4m yearly.
Same for Gigi Donnarumma who was long considered to be one of Italy’s most exciting prospects, and his growth to becoming one of the best goalkeepers in the world as of today was never off the cognizance of the bigger club sides in Europe.
Fast forward to the end of last season, Donnarumma officially joined PSG and signed a five-year contract until June 2026; also as a free agent.
- Angel Di Maria – €13m (11.4)
One of PSG’s most instrumental players who have been at the club since 2015. Di Maria joined the Paris giants from Manchester United after his hefty money move didn’t yield results for the Red Devils.
At PSG, the 33-year old Argentine has been helpful to the club, winning seventeen trophies altogether plus a UEFA Champions League runners up in 2020. As a result, he deserves to be one of the club’s high earners.
- Kylian Mbappe – €18m (£16m)
Considering the huge sum of money splashed on Mbappe and with his contributions to the team, it’s deserved for the youngster to earn this much even when he’s not up to 25-years yet.
By and large, Mbappe hasn’t been awful for the Les Parisians. He’s grown to become the best in his age range which is quite his selling point – little wonder he was courted by Real Madrid all through the summer transfer window.
His current pay yearly is a whooping €18m and it could be more when he finally leaves the Parc des Princes.

- Neymar – €30m (£26.3m)
When PSG triggered the release clause of Neymar in 2016, which constituted him as the most expensive transfer ever, it became expedient for him to be earning a substantial amount of money as wages.
Since then, he’s had his contract extended last season; committing his future to the club till 2025. His contract renewal with the club last season saw his yearly salary increase to €30m.
And with the addition of Lionel Messi to the club, it’s definitely going to be a worthwhile decision to stay in Paris after all.
- Lionel Messi – €35m (£30.2m)

Here it is. The transfer that was never going to happen – Messi joining Paris Saint-Germain is a transfer that was never expected by anyone to happen which eventually happened this summer.
It would’ve been an aberration had Messi arrived at the club and not become the team’s highest-earning player.
His name, status, and what he represents, it’s justifiable to earn as much as €35m. And it’s safe to say that when his two years contract expires, he’ll likely extend his stay at the club.
