Ever wondered about the most hilarious, iconic, and famous soccer adverts?

There have been some incredibly intriguing soccer adverts over the years. While some are really not a joy to watch, and some are amazingly beautiful to the eyes with notable superstars featuring to entertain and bring smiles to the face of both fans of the game and neutrals.

These commercials are wonderful fodder for conversation with our buddies; either at the workplace or anywhere – who would you have in it instead of someone who is in it, or which ones look the worst, there are countless issues to debate with your fellow football fans.

However, there really is one question that has never been satisfactorily answered. There have been several views and perspectives, but no conclusive answer has ever been provided.

  • Good & Evil

The advent of football commercials began in 1996 when Nike produced an exceptional brand advert that the sporting world had never seen before, which in the end birthed other ads like ‘The Airport’, ‘No Cage, No Mission’, and other iconic football adverts that literally bring smiles to the face of the fans.

Ronaldo O’Fenomeno alongside other notable great superstars lined up as Nike’s heroes to take on a team of demos from hell, on a pitch made of hellfire and the demons XI themselves in an atmosphere packed with demos fans.

The best moment of this iconic soccer commercial was when former United legend Cantona conquered the entire demos XI with his rocket volley to bring an end to the good and evil ad that the likes of Davids, Figo, Kluivert, Maldini, Wright, Jorge Campos, Brolin, and Ronaldo featured in.

  • The Airport

This hilarious soccer advert in 1998 featured Brazilian stars like Ronaldo O’Fenomeno, Rivaldo, Denilson, Carlos, Cafu, and Romario in the airport as commuters looked to waste some time before their delayed flight due to leave.

While the Brazilian heroes were waiting for their delayed flight issue to be sorted out, Ronaldo decided to have a kickabout with a ball with others joining him in showing their tricks and flicks evading the airport security.

As ‘Mas Que Nada’ the song playing underground while they wait for their flight to get into full swing, the players literally turned the airport into ‘Samba Boys’ training ground with all of the players showcasing amazing tricks, nutmegging both securities, luggage trolley and to Ronaldo wrapping the whole thing up with a goal at the post.

  • The Secret Tournament

‘The Secret Tournament’ or ‘The Cage’ was another amazing soccer commercial produced by Nike as a promotional tool for the 2002 World Cup in Japan and South Korea.

This commercial featured 24 elite players who were hidden from the world in order to hold a secret tournament, with one rule, eight teams, four players each, and the first to the goal wins.

This Nike ad undoubtedly ranks among the most iconic football adverts since the advent of soccer commercials. And while they threw a whopping $100m on this ad in terms of the whole production they also flaunt the ad with great football stars who played the game at the highest level.

Team ‘Triple Espresso’ which had great players in the team like Thierry Henry, Francesco Totti & Japan’s legend Hidetoshi Nakata faced Team Os Tornado’ which also had Luis Figo, Roberto Carlos & Ronaldo in the final with team ‘Triple Espresso’ emerging as champions.

  • The Mission

The whole production of this soccer advert in 2000 undoubtedly depicts the title of the ad itself, with former Manchester United coach Louis van Gaal leading a group of superstars on a heist to recover a special football from a highly guarded state-of-the-art museum.

Unsurprisingly, Nike produced yet another fantastic soccer commercial with former Juventus and Netherlands legend Edgar Davids, leading a cast of players that featured in the ad with his signature dreadlocks and shade which triggered the museum alarm resulting in the samurai robot army waking up to try and take him and others down.

Like the secret tournament, the commercial host familiar faces such as Andy Cole, Luis Figo, Dwight Yorke, Pep Guardiola, Francesco Totti, Hidetoshi Nakata, Lilian Thuram, and Oliver Bierhoff whose thunderous volley took out the robot led to a dramatic explosion and a jump into a waiting helicopter outside the museum.

  • Medieval Fight

The medieval fight commercial produced by Pepsi is arguably the most iconic and entertaining soccer advert in recent times.

This ad featured great superstars like David Beckham and Roberto Carlos amongst other legends in a battle between some pillaging soldiers and a ragtag bunches of footballers led by Beckham.

Ronaldinho’s scene in this ad was no doubt the most captivating part with his samba-like showboating skills, which led to a beautiful pass to David Beckham who also finished it off with an amazing pass to Roberto Carlos whose uncharacteristically trademark free-kick finished off the enemies and broke the Pepsi store lock.
