It has been reported that Europe football governing body ( UEFA ) will present new awards amid the Champions League group stage draw on August 24 in Monaco, acknowledging the best goalkeeper, defender, midfielder and strikers.
These awards, alongside the 2016/17 UEFA Europa League’s Player of the Season prize – which will be given over the next day during the competition’s group stage draw – are set to compliment the current UEFA Best Male Player and Female Player of the Year gongs.
The jury in charge of voting will be made out of various club coaches to have participated in the 2016/17 Champions League and Europa League 2016/17 alongside 55 journalists from the European Sports Media (ESM) gathering, one representing each of the UEFA member affiliations, including a MARCA delegate.
The rundown of nominees for the four UEFA Champions League awards, alongside the nominees for the UEFA Europa League prize, will be announced on August 4, while the three nominees for the UEFA Best Male Player and Female Player of the Year votes will be declared on August 15, taking after the finish of the 2017 UEFA European Women’s Championship.
