As the Bet9ja National League is quickly picking up the audience, and as always it’s been an exciting campaign so far. We’ve seen thrills, skills, lovely and unforgiving side of the national league, and in between, there are about dozen teams playing some exceptional exciting football.
The greatest surprise has been the number of relatively unknown footballing talents in the NNL this season, who have quickly matured into potential NPFL product and also helping their various teams.
But, on these team, we take a look at the top ten players who have been the most impressive in the NNL this season.
■ Isah Ismail (Goalkeeper) Delta force
The delta force goalkeeper has been fantastic for his side so far in the NNL keeping 8 clean sheets out of 12 games this season.
He has also scored a goal albeit from the spot against Papilo FC owned by the Former super eagles Skipper Kanu Nwankwo while saving another against Akwa starlets as they fight for promotion into the NPFL sitting 2nd in the 12 match days old league.
■ Tony Wilson (Midfielder) Kogi united
The Kogi united midfielder is known for his ability to score from set pieces and as such, he is referred to as “free kick expert”.
He scored the winning goal for his team in a 2-1 comeback win against Jigawa golden stars in April, curling a magnificent free-kick into the top corner of the opposing goalkeeper.
■ Isah Saadu – Crown FC
The Ajilete warrior’s striker has set a target to emerge the highest goal scorer in the NNL, and the forward is doing his ambitions little harm having scored 4 goals so far.
He might need to increase the frequency of his goals In order to meet his personal goal as Jude Aneke leads the score chart with 6 goals.
■ John Chukwudi – Gateway united
John has scored double braces already in this season’s NNL. The first of the braces came in Gateway’s home match against Osun united on April 12 at the gateway stadium, Ijebu ode.
He also scored another brace against Unicem Rovers on April 26 to make his tally 4 goals out of 4 games he has played this season for the promotion hopefuls
■ Akinode Moses – Heartland
The heartland of Owerri forward has four goals and one assist so far in the NNL this season, the highest score on the team so far as they sit atop of the southern conference table.
■ Chigozie Obasi- Osun united
He may not be playing in a top flight league but the 2013 u17 world cup winner us still playing league football with the Bet9ja National league team, Osun United.
The forward who scored one goal at the world cup is currently a starter at the promotion seeking club and his prospect and potential are still achievable if he keeps on improving himself and makes good use of the chances he is being given.
■ Jude Aneke – Ikorodu united
Yes, you guessed right, the former NPFL highest goal scorer now turns out for the “Oga boys” in the NNL after joining the team in February 2017.
He broke Ahmed Musa’s record for the highest goals scored in a season by a single goal in 2011 scoring 20 times that season and was even called up into the Super Eagles squad to replace injured Osaze Odemwingie.
So far this season he season he has scored six goals in 8 matches in the NNL although the Oga boys sit rock bottom of the southern conference table.
