Arsenal legend Ian Wright has encouraged Alexis Sanchez to leave the North London club after being chopped out from the starting line-up for Liverpool clash.
The Ex-Gunners striker hammered Arsene Wenger for sidelining the Chilean star at Anfield where they lost 3-1 before introducing Sanchez at half-time when Liverpool was two goals ahead and set up Danny Welbeck goal.
Wright in an interview on BT Sport said:
“I’d be thinking ‘if I can’t get in this team — hammered out of the Champions League and not in the top four — I know there’ll be other teams’.
“He has nothing to lose now. It was a strange game to leave him out of, it baffled me.”
Former England centre-half Rio Ferdinand in his opinion added: “His agent will be the first person on the phone saying ‘where do you want to go?.”
Wenger after the game defended his decision, insisting it was a tactical approach and that he had no special regrets.
“I have no special regrets, the only regret is to have lost the game. The thinking was that we had to go more direct and bring Sanchez on in the second half.
“I don’t deny Alexis Sanchez is a great player. A decision like that is not easy to make but you always have to stand up.”
But Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard said: “You always play your world-class players, especially in the big games.” Gerrard said on SunSports.
