Nigeria U20 midfielder Nnamdi Ofoborh has joined English League One side Wycombe Wanderers on a season-long loan from Bournemouth.
The 19-year-old who was part of the Nigeria U20 team to the last World Youth Championship in Poland was heavily involved with the first team of Bournemouth in pre-season but hasn’t made the squad for any of their games so far.
His signing means Wycombe Wanderers have now signed 12 players for the challenge of doing well in League One with coach Gareth Ainsworth revealing that he has been admiring Ofoborh for a while and believes he suits the style of how they want to play this season.
The former Tottenham and Millwall academy star has captained the Cherries’ under-21 side, winning the club’s Young Player of the Year prize in 2017/18, and represented Nigeria in the under-20 World Cup this summer.
Ainsworth said: “Nnamdi is a player I’ve admired for a long time and I know he’s very highly-rated at Bournemouth, so I’m delighted to be able to bring him here. He’s done extremely well for them throughout pre-season and comes to us sharp and ready to play.
“He’s a very strong and powerful midfielder who suits our style and can also cover in the center of defense which could be valuable for us. I’m excited to see what he can bring to the team and would like to thank Eddie Howe at Bournemouth for allowing him to continue his development here.
