David Amoo has become Cambridge United’s first summer signing after putting pen to paper on a one-year deal.
The 26-year-old leaves Scottish Premiership side, Parick Thistle, as he wasn’t offered a new deal on the expiration of his contract on June 30.
David Oluwaseun Segun Amoo played for Millwall as a youth, leaving at the age of 16 to sign for Liverpool in 2007, he was in the Liverpool’s squad for the FA Youth Cup Finals in 2009 when they lost 6–2 to Arsenal Reserves.
He signed another two-year contract with Liverpool in 2010, having effectively worked his way through the Liverpool Academy and Reserves to train with the team at Melwood in 2009. He was also named in Liverpool’s 2009–10 UEFA Champions League squad and was named in Liverpool’s 2010–11 UEFA Europa League Third qualifying round squad for a match on 28 July 2010.
Amoo joined Scottish Premiership side Partick Thistle on a one-year deal on 1 July 2015 and scored his first goal for The Jags in a 2–1 thrashing to Motherwell on 26 September 2015, he played 71 games, scoring 8 goals and 8 assists.

Amoo said: “When I heard about the interest from Cambridge United, I jumped at it with open arms.
“It’s a challenge that I’m really excited about.
“I’ve played in League One and League Two level for a large part of my career, so I’m looking forward to moving back to England and showing my stuff here.
“I know how competitive this level is with a lot of games to be played, so I want to chip in with as much as I can to help the team.
“They finished just outside the play-offs last season and it’s clear there is a strong group of talented players, who I am keen to get to work with.”
