Mountain of Fire Ministries missed the chance to burned down Plateau United’s lead at the top of the league table, as they lost 0-1 to ABS in the match day 7 of the Nigerian Professional Football League encounter on Thursday.
MFM and league’s top scorer started off the bench in the second half of the game as the head coach Fidelis Ilechukwu start youngster Adebayo Waheed ahead of Stephen Odey in the game at the Kwara State Stadium.
The match was lively enough to keep the home fans on the edge of their seats after failing to converts their chances in the 45 minutes of the game, the first real chance at a goal came in the 6th minute when MFM’s young forward Adebayo Waheed’s goal was ruled out for offside.
Mohammed Mohammed also had the chance to put his team forward in the 12th minutes securing a fine pass from Metu, only for his shot to go wide, as MFM captain Kenedinum Nelson also failed to capitalise from ABS defensive woes by flashing wide his effort.
The second half also had same fate until the 73rd minute when the host won a spot kick after the referee issued a foul committed on left-back Anaekwe Ebuka, Samuel Oyedeji made no mistake to send MFM shot stopper Ospino Egbe to fetch the ball in the net.
Despite the MFM defeat in Ilorin, Ilechukwu’s men remain in the second position with 13 points but four points behind table-topping Plateau United.
