El-kanemi Warriors are now a genuine title contender for the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) as Ladan Bosso’s lead side shut the gap on Plateau United after their vehement 3-1 win over Sunshine Stars.
El-kanemi hit their guests, Sunshine Stars 3-1 at the Maiduguri Township Stadium on Wednesday evening. Samuel Mathias put the home side ahead in the 25th minute of the game before the guests levelled back courtesy of Bala Yahuza goal.
Bello Koformata restored the home side lead in the 65th minute from the spot and Mathias compensated for the penalty he missed miss in the first half of the game to finish his game with a brace.
El-kanemi now secures 21 points from 11 matches, same points with the table toppers Plateau United, The Tin City club ruin their chance to broaden their lead on the NPFL log as they shot empty shells at home against Lobi Stars. The Benue pride held Plateau United to a goalless in Jos and ending league leaders 11- game winning run at home.
Remo Stars dropped another home points against Kano Pillars.
