Enyimba forward Mfon Udoh scored twice in the Matchday 24 of the Nigeria Professional League (NPFL) as The Peoples Elephant beat Abia Warriors 2-1 at the U.J Esuene Stadium but the game was damaged by red cards to Kelly Kester and Chinedu Ozor.
The Peoples’ Elephant moved into the third position on the NPFL log with 38 points, seven behind Plateau United the Warriors slipped to 12th with 32points.
The home side got an early lead in the first 20th minute of the game when the ref awarded a penalty for handball and Mfon Udoh ventured forward to dispatch from the penalty spot and smashed the ball home.
The guests had a nervy moment when goalkeeper Ekoi went down under the overwhelming challenge from goalscorer Udoh but after treatment, he proceeded.
Abia Warrior’s only had one shot on target in the first half of the game which came from Hammed’s freekick but Fatau in goal for The Peoples Elephant spared the ball easily.
Enyimba started the second half in phenomenal form as Mfon Udoh profited from Abia Warriors defending mistake to complete his double. Abia Warriors pulled a goal back to make it 2-1.
