Barcelona star man Lionel Messi is expected to travel down to the African country of Egypt to honour a health campaign that is aimed at fighting the dreaded disease known as Hepatitis C.
The Five-time World Player of the Year having won the much-coveted award in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2015, was scheduled to visit the country’s capital Cairo last week Wednesday (February 15) however the disappointing 4-0 defeat of Spanish La Liga and Copa Del Rey champions Barcelona at the hands of French champions Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) prompted the sponsors to issue a statement that the Argentine superstar will remain in Spain.
The Hepatitis C health campaign was put together by Ministry of Health and Tourism in Egypt so that patients suffering from the dreaded disease in the country since treatment for it is largely expensive and very effective as well.
Messi, who has scored 35 goals in all competitions for the five-time European Champions this season, was initially scheduled to visit the North African country in December 2016 before his trip was called off as a result of the Cairo Cathedral bomb incident that took place around that time.
