Technical Director of the Oga boys, Theo de Jong has expressed his optimism that his team’s highest goalscorer, Jude Aneke can help them beat the drop into the Nationwide League one.
The Dutch man disclosed this to cheapgoals.com correspondent Daniel Idowu after his team’s 1-0 win over Abia comets at the MKO Stadium in Abeokuta on Wednesday.
Theo de jong said; the former NPFL goal king was signed to bolster the attack of the team and has so far not disappointed with 6 goals in 8 games in the bet9ja national league and strongly believes that his goalscoring exploits can turn the fortune of his team around having started the season slowly.
The former NEC Nijmegen and Feyenoord’s midfielder further praised Aneke who was disappointed with his substitution in the second half of the game while also ensuring fans that the Oga boys will continue to fight on to stay in the NNL and possibly fight for promotion in the second stanza of the league after the transfer period.
Ikorodu united won the game through a long range free kick from skipper Fatai Abdullahi in the second half after missing several scoring chances in the first half.
Meanwhile, in Ijebu ode Gateway United did a big damage to their promotion race after playing a 1-1 draw with Bayelsa united. Hakeem Olalere blasted a last minute penalty high and wide as Osun united drew goalless with Papilo FC
