Iwobi Stars As Arsenal See Off Spirited Sutton To Avoid FA Cup Exit

Arsenal ended Sutton United’s FA Cup fairytale as Theo Walcott scored his 100th goal for the Gunners in a 2-0 victory at Gander Green Lane on Monday night.

About 5,000 football loving fans wedged into the Borough sports ground in South London for the Club’s 119-year history, the club sit 17th in the fifth-tier 105 places lower than Arsenal.

Wenger fielded a strong team, but did make seven changes with Walcott being played as a lone striker up front, Lucas, Elneny, Monreal, Rob Holding, and Gabriel and Alexis Sanchez, Chamberlain, Mertesacker were left on the bench.

Arsenal was ahead soon after Granit Xhaka pass found Perez on the flank, the Spanish forward cut inside to strike a low drive past a despairing effort shot-stopper Ross Worner,

Theo Walcott became the Gunner’s 18th centurion early in the 55th minute of the game with a clinical finish, finishing the home side dream of playing at Wembley with his 100th Arsenal goals.

Sutton was so spirited with flurry of chances as Roarie Deacon rattled a thunderous strike from 25yards only to be denied by the crossbar, but their effort wasn’t enough to overpower the visitors

Arsenal fans can breathe conveniently after having avoided an FA Cup exit away to a non-league team, which could have sparked lots of issue after their 5-1 demolition in Champions League.
