Enyimba‘s Ifeanyi Anaemena has cautioned his teammates that Rayon Sport of Rwanda are not weaklings when they face each other in the quarter-final of the Caf Confederation Cup.
The draw which was conducted by the Confederation of African Football authorities in Cairo, Egypt on Monday night put the two time African champions Enyimba against Rayon Sport.
In spite of Enyimba’s apparent prevalence over their Rwandan adversaries, Enyimba of Aba defender has reminded his colleagues that Rayon Sport earned a place in the quarter-final and such they should approach the game with utter seriousness.
Speaking to Goal.com
“I don’t agree with those that feel that we have got a fair draw because Rayon Sports deserved to be where they are and we must respect them for that,”
“We cannot imagine that we are better than them because of our past record. Things are changing so fast and we must have that in mind in our analysis of Rayon Sport. We need to respect them.
“We must be willing to fight over the cause of the two legs. We need to get all the required information about them and their past matches. We must work harder on our own and take our training very serious too.”
The first leg will take place at the Stade Régional Nyamirambo, Kigali on September 16th, while the reverse fixture will be staged at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba on September 23rd.
The two-time African champions beat Congo’s CARA Brazzaville 1-0 in their last group game to finish as Group C winners, while Rayon Sports finished as Group D runners-up.
Should the Nigerian flag bearer at the continental stage qualify on aggregate, they will face the winner between CARA Brazzaville and Raja Casablanca for a chance to compete in the two-legged final.
