Thierry Hazard, father of Chelsea star has claimed that Hazard turned down the opportunity to extend his contract with the Premier League champions as he is seeking toward up a move to Real Madrid next summer.
The expressions of Hazard Sr have infused new life into the bits of gossip about a move to the Bernabeu for the Belgian international, with ‘Los Blancos’ manager Zinedine Zidane thought to be a major fan of the player.
“What I can say about Eden is that he rejected a contract extension to give himself the chance to follow up on the interest in him from Real Madrid, where he can see himself playing,” Thierry Hazard told ‘Le Soir’.
The Spanish giants have been long-standing admirer for the winger and have considered a move on a number of occasions before.
Hazard has never shrouded his adoration for the Spanish giants either, being quoted as saying: “Everybody knows the profound admiration I have for Real Madrid.”
So far, Real president Florentino Perez has been unwilling to surrender to Zidane’s desires to sign the former Lille man as he wanted to ‘ensure’ the likes of Isco and Marco Asensio, guaranteeing that they keep on getting a lot of minutes on the pitch.
However, regardless of saying that there is interest from the Spanish capital, Thierry Hazard was quick to call attention that no dialogs had yet been held.
“At this moment in time, there has been no contact with Real Madrid. Eden is just one part of the deal...” he clarified.
With this explanation, Hazard Sr especially put the ball in Real Madrid’s court in regards to a move, telling the Spanish side that Eden Hazard is interested and welcoming Madrid to make an offer.
