Muslim players in the Super Eagles are right now at loggerheads with Gernot Rohr over their arrangements to observe Ramadan Fast ahead of AFCON 2019 Qualifiers against Bafana Bafana
Rohr permitted Ahmed Musa and Shehu Abdullahi to observe the mandatory Ramadan fast in Super Eagle’s International friendly game against Togo, and despite the fact that the players broke their fast amid the half-time break as it was time to, the coach still had to haul them off after the break.
With the crucial tie against South Africa, Gernot Rohr has reached to Shehu Abdullahi and Ahmed Musa and tell them not to observe the fast on matchday against South Africa, as they are exceptionally vital to his plans.
The players are yet to offer into his request, with Musa especially not enthusiastic about avoiding the mandatory fast which prohibits them from eating from dusk till dawn saying he’s used to the usual Ramadan practice.
Same goes for Abdullahi, but Alhassan Ibrahim the other Muslim player in the squad need not worry much because the odds of getting his debut in the amusement is exceptionally thin judging by the options available to Rohr in his role.
