Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr has revealed his sheer interest to give all Nigerian player the equal liberties to fight for a place in the senior national, and he also emphasised on his bring young players to the squad.
Rohr, who has been impressive since he took charge of Super Eagles scaling through Tanzania, Algeria and also beating the Chipolopolo on their home ground.
Nigeria will take on the newly crown AFCON Champions Cameroon on August 28 in a 2018 World Cup qualifying double-header and play South Africa in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in June.
The German-born tactician believes other Nigerians players deserve Super Eagles call-up after having young and energetic players such as Alex Iwobi and Kelechi Iheanacho, he insisted that young players would be giving equal chance to prove their worth.
“As the team and the country had been deeply affected by failing to qualify for the finals in Gabon, I wanted to bring in some younger players into the squad. This, of course, is without closing the door on anyone,” Rohr told FIFA.com.
“This is something that I wanted to help change,” Rohr said. “I also offered to accompany the local selection, even if I was not in charge of it directly. I also said I would keep an eye out for the national women’s team. These are some of the things I said I wanted to do when I started in August last year.”
