English Premier League (EPL) leaders Chelsea, who are currently eight points ahead of closest rivals Manchester City in the race for the league title, have been linked with a move for AS Monaco midfielder Thomas Lemar ahead of the summer transfer window.
The 21-year old has so far starred for the French side this season in their rise to the top of the French Ligue 1 table ahead of the likes of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and OGC Nice thereby attracting interests from European heavyweights like the previously mentioned Manchester City and Spanish side Atletico Madrid.
According to reports, Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is keen to replace wantaway Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas, who has been linked with a move away from the London outfit at the end of the season with clubs like AC Milan and Inter Milan on the radar, while 2014 Spanish La Liga champions Atletico Madrid are reportedly looking at the midfield sensation as a replacement for their French star Antoine Griezmann believed to be on his way to English giants Manchester United in the summer if widespread reports are anything to go by.
On the other hand, Manchester City is also keen on Thomas Lemar according to popular French news outlet L’Equipe with Pep Guardiola keen to strengthen his midfield options this summer.
Chelsea captain and defensive stalwart John Terry turned down three big offers from Major League Soccer (MLS) clubs in the United States of America (USA) so as to stay with the English Premier League (EPL) leaders according to media reports.
The 36-year old Blues legend has been a bit-part player this season though he has done enough to win his 5th league title if the leaders can preserve their lead at the top of the table. Terry’s present status at the club means he won’t get a contract most likely but that didn’t stop him from snubbing a mammoth £200,000 a week move to the MLS according to popular media outlet Daily Star.
The report also revealed that the Blues skipper spoke to his former club and country colleague Frank Lampard, who just returned from a stint with New York City FC, and thereafter decided to stay with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Brazilian-born Spanish striker Diego Costa is in talks with Chelsea to extend his contract with the 2012 UEFA Champions League (UCL) winners according to reports.
This is coming on the back of a much-publicised bust-up with club manager Antonio Conte some weeks back. Diego Costa reportedly received a mammoth offer for him to seal a transfer to the Chinese Super League thus leading to the bust-up and he was subsequently dropped from the team. He made up with his Italian manager and was restored back into the starting line-up.
Popular Sports TV channel, Sky sports, revealed that there has been progressing in the contract negotiations between Costa and the club while familiar news outlet The Sun stated that a new five-year deal has already been agreed for the former Atletico Madrid star.
