Carl Ikeme Granted An Honorary Spot In Nigeria’s World Cup Squad

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has made an endearing gesture to Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper Carl Ikeme by calling him up as the 24th player in Nigeria’s World Cup squad.

Ikeme has been somewhat splendidly selected as the 24th player for Nigeria at the World Cup which commences one month from now – and FIFA’s official World Cup game has gesture by including him as well.

In spite of the fact that Ikeme may not feature in a major tournament but, he’ll feature on the FIFA 18 add-on which is currently live. And so, at least in FIFA™ video gaming , Ikeme will join fellow compatriots such as Alex Iwobi, Wilfred Ndidi, Victor Moses, Ahmed Musa and others as being selectable on the official video game.

But, ahead of Super Eagle’s friendly clash with the Three Lions at Wembley on Saturday, Gernot Rohr stated:

“Until the last minute, there is a probability of bringing these players. Carl Ikeme will be our 24th player to the World Cup.”

Rohr conceded two weeks back that the nonappearance the Wolverhampton shot-stopper– who was named Nigeria’s man of the match in their opening qualifier against Zambia in October 2016 – was his “Biggest Regret” heading into Russia 2018 Mundial.

Well, it’s no breaking news that Nigeria had incorporated an extra player on their list in previous editions of the World Cup, as Clemens Westerhof took Tijani Babangida to USA ’94 World Cup while, veteran coach Onigbinde had Peter Osaze Odemwingie at Korea/Japan 2002.
