Brazilian Legend’s Son Convicted For Drug Trafficking, To Serve 13yrs In Prison

A Brazilian court has decided that Brazilian football legend, Pele’s child who was sentenced illegal tax fraud and drug trafficking, must start serving about 13 years in jail.

Edson Cholbi do Nascimento was initially sentenced to 33 years in 2014. However, because of long interests handle the appeal process, the 46-year-old did not serve the sentence until the new court decision was passed on Friday, February 24, 2017. The judge who directed the case lessened the sentence to 12 years and 10 months.

Edinho who was a goalkeeper for a few clubs in Brazil in the 1990’s, including Pele’s home club FC Santos kept up his purity and pledged to keep battling the charges. His dad Pele is yet to remark on the sentencing.

“I am very frustrated because I am being accused of money laundering and I never did that, there is no evidence of that,’ he told reporters.”
