Newly-Unveiled manager, Augustine Eguavoen has started his rule on a triumphant note as he led the Akure Gunners to a 2-0 win over visiting Enugu Rangers.
Eguavoen led side inflicted a first thrashing in three matches on NPFL Champions Rangers International as they beat the visitors 2-0 in a rescheduled NPFL matchday 13 fixture.
In his first game in charge, Ex-Super Eagles handler Austin Eguavoen saw his side lead the pack in the 58th minute from the penalty spot after Rangers’ Osas Okoro was declared to have taken care of the ball inside the 18-yard box, Ajibola Otegbeye ventured up and smashed the ball home.
With under 15 minutes remaining before full time, Alaba Adeniyi doubled the hosts lead to secure Eguavoen first win in charge for the Akure gunners
However, Eguavoen admitted that the knows the heaviness of expectation on him, as he solicit the Akure fans to be calm as he gets down to full work in the second half of the NPFL
“It’s a huge responsibility but we know what is at stake and will approach it with all we have,” Eguavoen stated.
“We have a task and we urge the supporters of the club to be patient as we will be better than how we were in the past.”
