Arsenal, Manchester City Two Crucial Test For Liverpool’s Title Race

Jurgen Klopp led-side are halfway towards ending a 29-year long wait to lift the Premier League trophy, the two crucial clashes ahead of the Kops in just a week will test Liverpool‘s title pursuit without limitations, starting with the Gunners making a reverse fixture trip to Anfield on Saturday.

For quite a while a new year visit to Etihad Stadium on January 3 had the makings of a title decider, but Liverpool presently has an edge for blunder with a noteworthy 6-point lead at the top of the premier league table.

Tottenham are now their closest rivals with Manchester City descending to third and seven points uncontrolled after three loss in their last four EPL games.

That is more than the six Liverpool have dropped all season so far as Jurgen Klopp’s men stay unbeaten. Substantially more huge history anticipates, especially if Liverpool stay unbeaten towards the end of the year.

We have to win our games, we have to be focused, we need to be really in the mood with having tunnel vision,” added Klopp.

That’s really important and then we will see where it leads us.”

Unai Emery side are one of three sides to have held the table-toppers in a 1-1 stalemate back November at the Emirate and features Premier League top scorer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette to inconvenience a Liverpool’s solid-rock defences (Van Dijk & Lovren)  that have conceded only seven goals this season.

There are two tough games now: Arsenal and Man City. We need to keep this momentum,” said defender Dejan Lovren.

“We have a big character in the squad. If you want to be at the top, you need to have the winning mentality and the calmness.”

Don’t forget ‘how good we are‘ –

The Cityzens will be wanting Liverpool to concede some ground except if Guardiola side will get themselves 10 points off the when they visit St Mary at a rejuvenated Southampton under Ralph Hasenhuettl on Sunday.

“The less important issue is Liverpool, we have to think about Southampton,” insisted Pep Guardiola after City’s shocking loss to Leicester at the King Power Stadium.

“I don’t forget who we are, how good a team we are, how exceptional these lads I have in the locker room are.

The reality is we have lost three in four games and the last two. If you want to be real contenders you have to win again. If you don’t, it will not be possible.”

Pep Guardiola sent a notice to Liverpool that is a lot harder to adapt to the tag of the EPL title top picks as City did last season and until their recent slump this season.

From January, February last season people said, ‘The Premier League is over’. To live with that is not easy,”

Tottenham have to a great extent manage to secure the second spot and shift their attention as a title contender, but can never again be overlooked in the wake of netting 11 goals in their last two league games whipping Everton 6-2 and Bournemouth 5-0 respectively.

Mauricio Pochettino, whose side host Wolves on Saturday said: The season is fantastic where from the beginning, no one believed much in us,”

We need to prepare not only physically but also our minds to be strong because it’s going to be tough to compete in the second half of the season.”
