UEFA Reveals ” Ultimate Team Of The 21 Century”



UEFA have revealed their ‘Ultimate Team of the 21 Century’, which is made up of the players who have featured most of the 16 versions of their UEFA ‘Team of the Year’ selection.

Madrid and Barcelona command the unequaled XI having won eight Champions League trophies between them since the award propelled – however, there is some English representation, with players who made the team while at Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United making it in.

Goalkeeper: Iker Casillas (6)

Casillas made it into UEFA’s ‘Team of the Year’ for 2007, 08, 09, 10, 11 and 2012.


Defender: Sergio Ramos (6)

Ramos made it into UEFA’s ‘Team of the Year’ for 2008, 12, 13, 14, 15 and 2016.

Defender: Gerard Pique (5)

Pique made it into UEFA’s ‘Team of the Year’ for 2010, 11, 12, 15 and 2016.

Defender: Carles Puyol (6)

Puyol made it into UEFA’s ‘Team of the Year’ for 2002, 05, 06, 08, 09 and 2010.

Defender: Philipp Lahm (5)

Lahm made it into UEFA’s ‘Team of the Year’ for 2006, 08, 12, 13 and 2014.

Midfielder: Steven Gerrard (3)

Gerrard made it into UEFA’s ‘Team of the Year’ for 2005, 06 and 2007.

Midfielder: Xavi Hernandez (5)

Xavi made it into UEFA’s ‘Team of the Year’ for 2008, 09, 10, 11 and 2012.

Midfielder: Andres Iniesta (6)

Iniesta made it into UEFA’s ‘Team of the Year’ for 2009, 10, 11, 12, 15 and 2016.

Forward: Thierry Henry (5)

Henry made it into UEFA’s ‘Team of the Year’ for 2001, 02, 03, 04 and 2006.

Forward: Cristiano Ronaldo (11)

Ronaldo made it into UEFA’s ‘Team of the Year’ for 2004, 07, 08, 09, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 and 2016.

Forward: Lionel Messi (8)

Messi made it into UEFA’s ‘Team of the Year’ for 2008, 09, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15 and 2016.
