What an approach to begin the new season, a shower of goals poured in exuberant extent at the Emirates Stadium as Arsenal fought against eminent loss to beat Leicester City 4-3 and secured their first 3 points of the season in a sensational manner.
Arsenal had not met the Premier League season’s opening game with huge success in recent years. The Gunners narrow victory against Crystal Palace in 2014 was their only win on opening day fixtures since the 2009/10 campaign. Leicester, on the other hand, were looking to end Arsenal hoodoo and record their first win over the North London side since 1983
It was an end to end stuff in the first half but Arsenal enjoyed the highest percentage of the half. Leicester City unsettled the Gunners with their style of play and forced Wenger’s men to come from behind twice in a tension soaked circumstances.
Jamie Vardy ran riot and Arsenal new signing Alexander Lacazette wasted no time in announcing his presence to the Premier League.
Lacazette opens the 2017/18 EPL campaign with a debut goal precisely 94 seconds when he glanced a header from Elneny’s pinpoint cross. His goal is authoritatively the record joint fastest in the Premier League.
The Emirates crowd barely had time to breathe on the opening goal before Leicester were level. Harry Maguire did well to achieve a profound cross and with Petr Cech in no-man’s-land, headed back for Shinji Okazaki to head into the empty net.
Prior to the half hour mark, Vardy fired the Foxes in front and the goal appeared to thump the stuffing out of Arsenal, but they figured out how to level through Danny Welbeck with the last kick of the half. Intricating play on the edge of the box prompt Sead Kolasinac being played in behind the Foxes barrier. The Bosnian serenely squared to Welbeck who stroked past Schmeichel.
In the second half, Vardy puts Leicester ahead again with a header which beats Cech flat footed and Arsenal started pursuing the game. Wenger changed to plan B ringing his strategies and returning from 3-4-3 to 4-4-2 tactics subsequent of bringing in the duo of Ramsey and Giroud for Elneny and Rob Holding respectively.
Ramsey about had a quick effect as he made one of his blasting runs into the final 18-yard to get on the end of Lacazette’s cross. Tragically for the Gunners, he headed distressingly wide from eight yards.
In the last 10 minutes, Leicester City couldn’t hold forward and support their grasp on the game, neither would they be able to contain the Gunners determined pressure as Ramsey lucky strike found the net in the 82nd minute.
Just two minutes after the fact Granit Xhaka delivered a corner towards Giroud and the Frenchman did staggeringly well to get his header on target. The ball fell off the underside of the bar to pretty much go too far and send the Emirates crowd into incoherence.
Arsenal managed to finish off the thrilling game to acquire their first three points of the season.
