Tottenham Hot Spur right back Kyle Walker has joined Premier League rival Manchester City on a five-year deal for a world record-equalling fee for a defender worth over £50 million.
The 27-year-old right-back, who will wear the number 2 shirt, follows the footsteps of Bernardo Silva and Ederson in becoming the Citizens’ third signing this summer.
‘I am thrilled to be signing for City and can’t wait to get started’, the player said.
‘Pep Guardiola is one of the most respected managers in the world and I feel he can help me take my game to a new level’.
Txiki Begiristain, the Manchester City’s Director of Football, added: ‘Kyle is a fine full-back, one capable of producing quality at both ends of the pitch’.
‘I am sure he will be a success at Manchester City this season and beyond’, Beguiristain said of the defender, who has been capped 27 times for England.
A club statement read: ‘Everyone at Manchester City would like to wish Kyle the best of luck as he begins the next stage of his career here at the Etihad Stadium’.
