Bournemouth has completed the signing of Dutch defender Nathan Ake for a reported fee of £20m from Premier League champions Chelsea.
The highly talented defender sign a five-year contract with the Cherries. The 22-year old joined the Cherries on loan in June 2016, and scored three goals in 12 games before being recalled by the Blues in January, but made just five appearances for Antonio Conte’s side. Eddie Howe was altogether awed with the Dutch international.
The move is beneficial to all parties included. Chelsea will have the capacity to reinvest the cash into fortifying their squad, Ake can proceed with his development with regular football at Bournemouth and the Cherries have themselves a promising young player.
Speaking to the Bournemouth official club Ake said: “I had a great time here last season so I’m really happy to be back,” said Ake.
“It’s an exciting challenge. Chelsea is a great club and I learned so much there but this is a new step and the right place for me to develop even more.
“The fans haven’t seen the best of me yet. I always set the bar high so I know there is a lot of things I still have to work on.
“With the help of the manager here I know I can keep improving and become a better player.”
