Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation Bitrus Bewarang said he’s optimistic Everton sensation Ademola Lookman will pledge allegiance to Nigeria if called upon.
The teenage Forward has been optimistic to represent Nigeria in future, and a source close reported that the 19-year old would love to continue playing for the Three lions U-19 side for the moment, with the next U20 World Cup in sight
Bewarang insisted the Federation needs to talk to the Everton player and convince him to represent Nigeria
“We will soon start the African Cup of Nations qualifiers, most of these players will be exposed. We are taking the AFCON and World Cup qualifiers seriously. ”
He added: “I saw Lookman against Manchester City, he scored a beautiful goal. We are taking note of him because he can be called up.
“Selection is done by the coach, we will try to draw his attention to the player if he doesn’t know him already.
“We have to talk to him and convince him to play for Nigeria, it’s a good development for Nigerian football. ”
However, Gernot Rohr has been wandering Europe for young Nigerians and players who are in top form for their respective club to represent the country.
