Director of Freestan FC Efemena Elutabe, said his side are resolved to claim the 2017 Lagos State FA Cup (LSFA), insisting that MFM can’t pose a threat to them from achieving their aim.
The non-league side achieved the quarterfinal phase of the competition in the wake of beating RealCarat24 FC 4-3 on a penalty in the round of 16, and are set to confront Femmak football Academy in the quarterfinals stages of LSFA.
The Directors says not even the defending champions; MFM FC will prevent his lads from achieving their objective of claiming the 2017 edition.
Speaking to Goal.com in an interview, Elutabe said: ” I will sound somewhat proud in such manner, before we started, I was made to understand there may be five medals for officials but we have six official, and I want a medal since I’m certain we will win the Lagos FA title, so I enroll myself as a player, and I’ve told my players that our point is to wind up noticeably the champions of the competition,”
“I am exceptionally sure we will be crowned champions at the end of the day because I have not seen a team that will beat us in this tournament, not even MFM FC.
“One of the reasons we are able to have this decent team is because officiating has improved a bit, though they need to do more, but it is quite better than what we used to have
Elutabe said that their improvement this year could be followed by their adjustment in training programs, included with seven days team bonding before any game, which as indicated by him help the players on the field.
“I think the only thing that has changed is the bonding of the team, now the team do a lot of camping before a game, we camp at least a week before our game, so it gives them the opportunity to know themselves better, this way, they work for themselves on the pitch.
“We have also been able to modify their training programs, and this has really helped them a lot to come this far in terms of their fitness and also in this tournament because that is one key thing important in African football.
