Arsenal FC forward Alexis Sanchez seemed to snub shaking Arsene Wenger at London Colney training ground as the squad continued their preparations for Thursday’s Europa League tie against Red Star Belgrade.
Cameras caught the Chilean strolling towards his manager alongside Nacho Monreal as Wenger welcomed his players.
Wenger has a custom of shaking the hand of every player ahead of a training session, and start doing as such on Wednesday. Sanchez, however, seemed to stroll towards the Frenchman with his head down before taking off to one side to stay away from any interaction.
But it’s not as it seems, as Wenger clear up the hand-shake rumor in his press conference ahead of Europa League clash with Red Star Belgrade.
He told reporters that he didn’t shake Sanchez’s hand because the Chilean was one of the first players he spoke to in the medical center before they took the pitch.
Gunners faithful had been concerned that it was confirmation of the strained relationship between the manager and the want-away forward, in the midst of the Arsenal’s current woe.
The 28-year-old had made it clear toward the start of the season that he wanted out of the Emirates to play in the Champions League. But things didn’t work out the way the Chilean wants, as he will represent the Gunners in the Europa League this week.
The Gunners have won their first two games in Group H and at present occupy the top spot. They confront second-place Red Star Belgrade in Serbia on Thursday.
