Regardless of the extreme contention between Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo and five-time world footballer of the year Messi, Ronaldo has conceded that he “enjoys” watching Lionel Messi play even as he includes that he has a great deal of regard for the Barcelona superstar.
Ronaldo and Messi have spent the past decade rivalling each other for the status of best player in world football, breaking various records en route, yet the Portuguese international insist that he has “a very good relationship” with Messi.
The 32-year-old said he had a decent relationship with Messi, although he disliked the constant comparisons.
“Whenever I’m with him, I have a very good relationship with Messi,” Ronaldo said.
“It’s not that I go to his house and eat together. He is not a friend, but I consider him a companion by profession and not a rival because I don’t like it, like comparisons. “It is part of the work and the world of football.”
The Portuguese forward, whose team confront Juventus in the Champions League last on Saturday, said Messi was among those he enjoyed seeing play.
“I jump at the chance to see every single great player and Messi is one of them. He is a player,” Ronaldo revealed to Fox Sports Argentina.
“I truly enjoy seeing him on the pitch and all the great players.”
Ronaldo has enjoyed in another fine season, having scored 40 goals in all competition to help Madrid claim the LaLiga title.
