Goalscoring Milestone: Lionel Messi Racks Up 600th Career Goal



Barcelona superstar reached yet another goalscoring milestone in Blaugrana‘s clash with Atletico Madrid on Sunday, as Lionel Messi‘s 600th career goal kept up Barcelona’s unbeaten record in La Liga to open up an eight-point lead.

The 30-year-old struck in Sunday’s LaLiga clash with Atletico Madrid to reach his most recent goalscoring milestone. Messi sent a 25-yard free-kick into the top corner after 26 minutes to put Barca 1-0 up, with Jan Oblak’s touch insufficient to keep it out.

Messi’s 600 goals were raised a day after arch-rival Cristiano Ronaldo reached 300 LaLiga goals, the Real Madrid hotshot got a brace in Los Blanco’s 3-1 win over Getafe.

The Barcelona and Argentina star has been the scourge of defenders in Spain and across the world since making his professional debut at 17 and his illustrious career has now yielded another mind-boggling milestone.

In the process, Messi has gathered 30 trophies but international honours have eluded him up until this point, with the 2018 World Cup tantalizingly upcoming.

99 – Messi has scored his goals against 99 different opponents. Atletico (28) are second on his list of favourite teams to face, one behind Sevilla.
