Chelsea manager Antonio Conte was baffled by Alvaro Morata’s debut in the Community Shield, in which Arsenal defeated Chelsea in the penalty shoot-out.
‘Morata needs to work and improve but it is normal. He stays with us for just a single week’, the Italian said after the clash at Wembley.
Antonio Conte was the main impetus behind the Spaniard’s signing, and he stretched out his plea to other Chelsea new recruits: ‘It’s the same for [fellow new signing Antonio] Rudiger. It will be the same likewise for [Tiemoue] Bakayoko’.
‘It is essential to find a decent physical condition and to understand our concept of football. He needs a bit of time but that is normal’, the Blues manager insisted about the former Madrid striker.
Alvaro Morata came in the second half and missed the unequivocal penalty kick, as well as misused a headed chance which could have kept Chelsea away from the shoot out.
