Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo has held his status as ‘FIFA Best’ according to FIFA in the wake of taking home the award at Monday night’s swanky awards function at the London Palladium.
The Portuguese effectively beats off competition from arch-rivals Lionel Messi (FC Barcelona) and Neymar (PSG) to bring home the much sought-after FIFA awards
Ronaldo proved to be the best in the vote, with the voting procedure split equitably between four equally-weighted categories: National team managers, team captains and few selected members of the press and fans.
The initial 24 chosen players were whittled down to three, leaving Ronaldo, Messi, and Neymar competing for the lead position. As it is so regularly the case, it was Ronaldo who ended up as the winner following a trophy-laden season that saw him help Real Madrid to the La Liga, Champions League, and Club World Cup titles.
