Ahead of their crucial tie against Adamawa Queens at the Fufore Township Stadium, Confluence Queens defender, Abdullahi Hauwa has reverberated her team’s objective of finishing the season at the top of Group B and also claiming the ultimate crown toward the finish of this campaign.
The New Direction Queens are right now second with 14 points two behind Nasarawa Amazons, a position that still guarantees them a place in the season-ending Super Four.
However, the left fullback is not comfortable to being second best and hoping they move to the top which is occupied by her former team at the moment.
Addressing the press on Monday after Confluence Queens’ last training session preceding their outing to Adamawa State, Hauwa evaluated her team’s first round performance somewhat better than expected. She is anticipating an outstanding second round trip.
“My desire for my team Confluence Queens is to be crowned as the NWPL champions toward the finish of the season. This is achievable on the off chance that we win all our home matches and get no less than six points.
“The season is not over yet but rather let me say congrats to the whole team since I already consider us to be the 2016/2017 NWPL champions,” Hauwa added.
If Confluence Queens can go ahead to make Hauwa’s declaration worked out as expected, it would be their first NWPL title. Meanwhile, they are up against Adamawa Queens who stunned them to a 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture in Lokoja in spite of being a player down.
Prior to Matchday 7 game over a month prior, the New Direction Queens were level on points with Nasarawa Amazons – only goal difference separated both sides – but Adamawa Queens put a spoke in their haggle is no preferable time over now to take their pound of flesh.
The match between Adamawa Queens and Confluence Queens has been scheduled for Thursday 22nd June.
