CHAN Final: Salisu Yusuf Highly Optimistic About Making History

The home-based Super Eagles are optimistic they can go all the way and make history by winning a first-ever CHAN trophy for Nigeria tonight against the tournament host Morocco in Casablanca.
Eagles head coach Salisu Yusuf has guided the team through a dramatic qualification to the final phase of the competition as they set to clash with the home team in the chase for international magnificence.
Salisu said they are prepared to fight despite the fact that the Atlas Lions will have a stuffed Stade Mohammed V in Casablanca unequivocally behind them.
“We know they have great players who are strong in the air and we will devise a way to stop them.
“We have some injuries like (Ikechukwu) Ezenwa and (Sunday) Faleye, but I believe all the other players have shown they are ready if given the opportunity.
“We want to win because we deserve to be here.”
Ezenwa will miss the Final due to a knee injury, but the coach is hopeful and insists that even in the captain’s absence the considerable solidarity the Eagles have shown in Morocco will again see them through.
“In football, you need team spirit, which we have and so even my absence will not affect the team as my deputy (Dele Ajiboye) has done well in the semi-final against Sudan.
“It’s going to be a big Final and we’re confident we will win the trophy.”
