Arsene Wenger has lavish praises on Arsenal first summer signing from Schalke 04 Sead Kolasinac who responded to the intrigue of his first appearance at Emirates Stadium in style in Saturday’s Emirate Cup clash against Benfica.
The Bosnia-defender teed up Theo Walcott’s first goal, and played a part in two more, as Wenger’s men beat Benfica 5-2 in their opening game of the Emirates Cup on Saturday.
While Lyon import Alexandre Lacazette has stood out as truly newsworthy, Kolasinac has continued on ahead discreetly.
Afterward, a delighted Wenger whose sit top of the table in the four team competition ahead of their second game against Sevilla on Sunday said: “I think he has gone, in pre-season, from strength to strength. He started a bit nervous, but every single week he moved his level up and in the last game was already good and today again I think he was influential as well.

“[For the first goal] Alex played me the ball out wide and I thought it would go out, so I followed it up, won it and saw Theo in the background. I chipped it over to him and he finished it ice-cold.
