ABS FC And Shooting Stars Secure Win In The Opening Game Of The NPFL U-15

Astonishing outcomes were recorded on Match Day 1 of the NPFL U-15 Promises tournament which served off early hours of Monday at the Osogbo City Stadium for teams in Group C.

Remo Stars, Shooting Stars, MFM FC, Shooting Stars, ABS FC and Sunshine Stars made up Group C of the Group phases of the competition in Osun State toward the finish of which two will meet will qualify for the Quarterfinal stage of the competition

David Okoromi scored the only goal in ABS FC win over MFM in the opening game, while Shooting Stars claim a convincing 3-0 win over Remo Stars.

However, it was MFM that improved possibilities in the early minutes of the game through Hammed Saheed’s free kick that went inches wide in the third minute and after two minutes Atoyebi Gideon shot straightforwardly at ABS goalkeeper, Kolawole Sheriff.

MFM defence broke down under maintained pressure from ABS in the 7th minute when David picked the last pass and beat his marker before he chipped the ball over MFM goalkeeper, Oladunni Habeeb.

MFM FC head coach, Isiekwene Christian would concede his young chaps learnt their lessons the most difficult way possible.

“We surrendered ahead of schedule in the game but we could make use of some chances we had and shake off the early goal. We could have got something positive from the game however, we have learnt hard lessons that would guide us better in the competition,” said Christian to Npfl.ng

Meanwhile, in the other game, Olubode Hassan’s stunning hattrick impelled Shooting Stars to a 3-0 win over Remo Stars in the second Group C match of Matchday 1.

Hassan scored the first of his three goals late in the first half in the intense experience and he caught up with a support in the second half to finish the main cap trap of the title.

Shooting Stars coach, Monday Ozeibe rate his team as top choices to win the top the group.

Ozeibe said; “I wasn’t impressed with the what they played in the first 45 minutes, but we got a late goal which was important for us.

The lads have improved amid pre-season matches. The triumph has put us as the top choices to win the group and I believe we are fit to finish top of the group.”

Matchday two proceeds on Tuesday morning with Tournament debutant Sunshine Stars going against ABS FC while Remo Stars and MFM FC fight for their first win of the tournament.
